Internet Marketing For Newbies

Just a quick entry on some of the updates since my last update.

Added:

• Contact Us Page
• Subscribe To Our Newsletter page
• My Product Recommendations page
• How-To Category

The Subscribe to Newsletter page although working, needs more work on the
autoresponder end to make it work/look better. Have a few house keeping things yet
to do and then I can concentrate on adding content.

Update

I added several new blog categories which will show up when I post a post in that area: BANS - VRE (Virtual Real Estate) - Affiliate Marketing - AdSense (which also ties in with VRE).

There will be more to come but for now I picked these because these are the areas that I work in.

I added two more plugin:

cforms - cformsII offers unparalleled flexibility in deploying contact forms across your blog. Features include: comprehensive SPAM protection, Ajax support, Backup & Restore, Multi-Recipients, Role Manager support, Database tracking and many more.

Cross-linker - A plug-in which allows you to set-up words which are automatically hyperlinked to desired URLs By Jan Hvizdak.
 
I added cross-linker as a replacement for aLinks. aLinks had a problem parsing my user name because I have some cap letters in it. My hosting company could not change the user name without closing down my site and opening a new one. Way too much work, so I found another plugin that does almost the same thing. The bulk of my sites are with another hosting company, Host Gator, and aLink has no issues there.

Now I’m going to take a look at cforms and see what’s involved in setting up a contact page.

I spent some time today installing the following plugins to wordpress:

Akismet 2.1.6 Akismet checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not. You need a WordPress.com API key to use it. You can review the spam it catches under “Comments.” To show off your Akismet stats just put <?php akismet_counter(); ?> in your template. See also: WP Stats plugin. By Matt Mullenweg.
 
 aLinks 2.0.1 A WordPress plugin that automatically links keywords in your blog post. By Sean Hickey.
    This plugin did not install for me, I’m getting an error message and I waiting for a response from Sean. I did install this plugin flawlessly on another site of mine.

Hello Dolly 1.5 This is not just a plugin, it symbolizes the hope and enthusiasm of an entire generation summed up in two words sung most famously by Louis Armstrong: Hello, Dolly. Today I’m planning on adding some categories for the blog posts and trouble shoot the aLink plugin.

I ripped down my site and I’m rebuilding it from the ground up using a CMS software, WordPress.

WordPress is known by most as a blogging program but it’s also a Content Management System. You can build an entire Website with or without a blog. I’m very impressed with WordPress and also VERY new at using WordPress, so bare with me as we go through are growing pains as I rebuild the site.

This site is for the Newbie at Internet Marketing. I’m no expert, I consider myself an old newbie. The whole purpose of this site is to help you get over the learning curve a little faster WITHOUT losing money to scam product or  products that are outdated. Trust me, if you  been at this for two or three weeks, you know what I’m talking about.

I’ll be setting up a blog on this site and will post as I make upgrades, changes and alike to the site to keep you informed. The blog will not be the home page so you will need to click on the blog link or use the rss feed, but as of this writing the blog is still the home page.
